The grate in your fireplace keeps the partially burned logs engaged in the fire instead of falling out like logs sometimes do when supported by andirons. By elevating the wood off the floor, the grate helps to create the necessary draft for vigorous burning. This grate is made of heavy-duty cast iron with a flat bottom and 4″ legs. The front width is 27″, rear width is 23-3/4″ and the depth is 15″. The grate weighs approximately 26 lbs.
