You can place it near any appliance or machine where there is a chance of disaster. such as water heaters, sump pumps, under sinks, dishwashers, and it will work just the same. This acts as a Water sensor and alarm that alarms as well as lets you know the level of water. It detects water only 1/16 inch deep. In situation of a potential leak, the alarm will sound for up to 24 hours (depending on battery life) on a volume of 85db. Also, where there is a need to charge the battery, it will send out a low battery chirp.Being a step ahead is always good and when its a potential water leak, its even more necessary because it will eventually help save water but also, avert any accident that might occur.
